The identified funding priorities are aligned with the district’s strategic plan and were developed in cooperation with the superintendent and the district’s instructional staff.
Technology Innovation Opportunity Grants (maximum award $30,000/campus) provide funds for elementary, middle, and high schools. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Enhancing existing technology and acquiring new 21st century learning technology to support education reforms and to improve student achievement.
• Adopting or expanding applications of technology to enable teachers to increase student academic achievement, including technology literacy, through teaching practices that are based on the review of relevant research, and through use of innovative practices such as distance learning strategies.
• Professional development initiatives that enable school personnel and administrators to obtain greater computer technology literacy and integrate technology into curriculum and instruction.
Student Enrichment Opportunity Grants (maximum award $2,000/student; $5,000/Campus/Department) provide funds for elementary, middle, and high school students to participate in learning activities that extend beyond the classroom. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Student leadership training and other co-curricular experiences, such as math/science/fine arts academies
• Visiting authors and or traveling actors
• Assistance with instrument costs
• After school enrichment programs such as dance, art, music, etc.
• Cultural Exchanges including transportation costs
• Enrichment field trips (State Capitol, museums, plays, etc.)
• Enrichment summer camps in curricula areas
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Grants (maximum award $60,000/District; $20,000/campus/department; $2,000/student/year) provide funds to support skill development for students’ future employment in high demand occupational areas such as agriculture, criminal justice, health science, and pharmacy. Funds may be used to support instruction in the following ways:
• CTE classroom/lab supplies and equipment
• Funds for student supplies and other related materials needed for participation
• Required fees for testing, licensures and certifications
• Expenses for student participation in competitions
• Student internships to enhance skills developed in the classroom/lab setting
• CTE summer camps and academies (i.e. Robotics / NASA….)
