The Education Foundation for North Forest ISD, Inc., is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation promoting quality education in North Forest Independent School District schools, was established in 2010. It was organized exclusively for educational purposes to provide supplemental funds for educational and enrichment programs or activities for the North Forest Independent School District. Specifically, the Education Foundation for North Forest ISD seeks and distributes funds to support programs and initiatives to further enhance learning for public school students in the North Forest community.
The idea for an education foundation began with NFISD campus and District administrators discussing the possibility of an education foundation to help support students in the district . Those leaders also identified funding priorities for donations that would be raised by a foundation.
In February 2010, the North Forest ISD Board of Managers adopted a resolution supporting the organization of a foundation that would provide supplemental funding to help the District serve its students.
Soon after the Board's resolution, a group of community volunteers, alumni and partners dedicated to education, was invited to join a steering committee to assist with the task of organizing the Foundation. A Certificate of Formation was filed with the state in July 2010, and these individuals have been working diligently since that time.
The Foundation has established programs that parallel the funding priorities identified by District administrators and is now working arduously on its Founding Donor Campaign, the inaugural effort to raise funds for Foundation programs and activities.
